Coach Lawrence McNeil was born and raised in the San Mateo area. Growing up he played various organized sports such as Pop Warner.
After graduating from Fresno State in 1998 he had a successful semi-pro career with the Pacifica Islanders for 4 years. With a BA in 1998 from Fresno State in Kinesiology and a BA from Menlo College in 2000 in Child Psychology, Coach Lawrence spent 6 years working for numerous recreation departments including San Mateo, Menlo Park, and Redwood City where he coached and organized various sports and fitness classes for children. He also spent time as a coach at Junipero Serra Catholic High School where he assisted in the coordination and execution of their entire strength and conditioning program for the Patrick Walsh summer camp. During his 3 years at Serra, Coach Lawrence was Freshman Football Head Coach, Varsity Linebacker Coach, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and the Assistant Athletic Director. Coach Lawrence was a substitute teacher for the Archdioses of San Francisco as well as a substitute teacher for the San Jose, Redwood City, San Mateo and Foster City public school districts. With a passion for bringing health and fitness to children and adults, Coach Lawrence went back to school where he received his Masters in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Sports and Fitness Management from San Jose State University in 2009.
